Corby Borough Council have agreed to moves for the authority to spend much more than usual in the next year and a half on the town.
A high level of reserves the council hold is one reason given for the use of more than £5m before 2020. That's the year when Corby Borough Council could merge with other authorities to create a new unitary body for the north of the county.
The money in Corby would be spent on a variety of projects restoring amenities and making repairs. These include work to create play areas, help community centres, restore CCTV, invest in the Corby Pool, maintain the Corby culvert, restore all weather sports pitches at Lodge Park Sports Centre and improve the look of shopping parades.
An extra provision was also made to extend the Corby cemetery - the plans are subject to public consultation beginning in December.
