Borough councillors in the Weldon area have welcomed a planned cash injection to pay for traffic calming measures.

The Conservative councillors for the area had wanted the measures to tackle speeding on Stamford Road in the village.

Incidents in recent years including a vehicle crashing into the wall of a family home prompted the campaign.

A recent meeting of Weldon Parish Council saw them agree to an investment in the traffic calming - that is set to be backed with money from the county's highways department.

Meanwhile the consort to the Mayor of Corby has launched a petition online about a busy road junction near Corby Old Village.

Robert Riley wants a mini-roundabout installed where the High Street meets Cottingham Road close to the Charter Field.

Mr Riley says the junction is dangerous and leads to congestion in the Old Village, especially at peak times.
