Jun 24 - Corby Radio is set to receive funds towards its academy for younger people thanks to a supermarket's community drive.
The station's been nominated in the Tesco Bags of Help appeal for this summer in the town - with shoppers invited to vote in-store for a favourite cause.
Grants of £1,000, £2,000 and £4,000 will be decided on - the money's been raised from the 5p charge issued on carrier bags.
The Corby Radio Academy runs courses for 13 to 18 year-olds which teach basic broadcasting techniques - also acting as a means for those who take part to develop social skills.
Only 50% of Corby Radio's income can come from advertising under rules from the broadcast regulator.
