Corby Town were beaten by three again as Basford United ran out 4-1 winners at Steel Park in a league match.

Jack McGovern scored for the Steelmen in the 40th minute but the Nottinghamshire side dominated from there to claim the points. Corby Town next play on Holiday Monday ( August 28 ) at Bedworth United.

S & L Corby lost 6-2 at home to Oakham United in their league fixture.

S & L 's footballers are second bottom of UCL Division One after a heavy defeat on Tuesday evening. Raunds Town scored five in the first half on the way to a 7-0 win. On Saturday ( Aug 26 ) S & L host Oakham in another league game.

Corby Town have a new defender in their ranks - left-back Sam Warburton has joined from Kings Lynn. The Steelmen host Basford in a league game on Saturday.

A better second half display on Tuesday evening from Corby Town was not quite enough as their second league game of the new season ended in a loss.

Spalding United scored either side of half-time before a deflected free-kick from Ollie Brown-Hill brought Corby back into the game late on.

2-1 to the Lincolnshire side is how it stayed and the attention of manager David Bell and his team now turns to their FA Cup tie at Dereham this Saturday.

The Steelmen will go no further in the famous competition after losing 3-0 at Dereham Town ( Aug 19 ).

The Norfolk side opened the scoring in the first few minutes and with Corby not converting chances through the half, it was 1-0 to the hosts at the break.

It eventually got worse for Corby as Dereham completed a comfortable win on the scoresheet. Corby Town's focus has to return to the league at home to Basford United on August 26.

It was disappointment too for S & L Corby as they lost 3-1 at Rushden & Higham in UCL Division One.

David Bell's side won their opening game in the Evo-Stik North Division One South on Saturday ( Aug 12 ).

An early goal was an indication of Corby's dominance to come as Romulus were beaten 5-1 in front of 402 fans.

Sam Mulready (2), Kern Miller, Jack McGovern and Jordan Crawford were the Steelmen scorers.

In UCL Divison One S & L Corby lost 4-3 at home to Bugbrooke St Michaels - the Foundrymen had lost 10-0 the previous Saturday.
