More wins for Steelmen
Corby Town continued their unbeaten run at the start of September.
AFC Dunstable were beaten 2-1 in a league game at Steel Park - Corby fell 1-0 behind before AFC had a player sent off and the Steelmen struck goals through Jake Bettles and an Elliot Sandy penalty.
In an FA Cup replay at Dunstable Town, midfielder Ben Bradshaw scored twice as the Steelmen won through 4-0.
They now face Hertford Town at Steel Park in the first qualifying round on Saturday ( Sep 8 ).
Unbeaten start for Steelmen
Corby Town have made an encouraging start to their 2018-19 campaign.
The Steelmen began on August 18 with a 1-1 draw at Cambridge City in the Southern League Division One Central.
Sutton Coldfield Town were beaten 1-0 in a league clash at Steel Park on August 22, and then on Saturday 25th Dunstable Town were the visitors in the Emirates FA Cup Preliminary Round.
An extraordinary game saw Dunstable race into a 3-0 lead before the Steelmen fought back to level at 3-3, with the equalising goal in the closing minutes.
On Holiday Monday ( Aug 28 ) Corby won 2-0 at Coleshill Town. Their next league game is at home to AFC Dunstable on Saturday ( Sep 1 ).
June sport round-up
Corby golfer Ryan Evans competed in the second major of his pro career after getting an entry into the US Open in Shinnecock Hills - a demanding course for all the players saw Ryan cut after two rounds. He's continuing to play on the European Tour.
Corby Town FC have signed centre-back Gary Mulligan from Kettering Town. The Steelmen's league fixtures for the coming campaign are released in mid-July.
Stewarts & Lloyds FC have merged their senior sides with those of Corby Kingswood FC. The teams will be competing in the Northants Combination after S&L lost their UCL place.
League fixtures for Stewarts & Lloyds RFC for the next campaign have been released. The Blackwave begin at home to Bugbrooke on September 8th in the East Midlands 2 South division.
Cricket - Weldon have made a 100% start to their Division Three campaign in the Northants Cricket Leagues. Great Oakley are bottom while S & L's first team have been making progress in Division Five.
Corby Archery Club held a public celebration of the sport in town as part of the Archery GB "Big Weekend" with events taking place at Corby Rugby Club and Brooke Weston Academy.
July sport round-up
Corby Town returned to training and have been playing pre-season matches throughout July.
So far manager Steve Kinniburgh has been broadly positive about the team as they have won 2-1 at Stamford, 3-0 at Wellingborough, 4-1 against an Oxford United under-23 side and lost 3-0 at home to Yeovil Town.
There are two more pre-season games before Corby open their league season in the Southern League's Division One Central with a trip to Cambridge City on Saturday August 18.
It's been a largely frustrating July for local golfer Ryan Evans, who has been unable to get past the first couple of rounds in a number of European Tour events.
Weldon's cricketers still top the Northants Third Division while Great Oakley are battling to get off the bottom spot. Stewarts and Lloyds first team have risen to the top in Division Five and Gretton have made progress in Division Seven.
Corby Athletic Club's senior members produced success at a July Heart of England meet at the Rockingham Triangle, with top athletes including Niamh Bailey and Isaac Akers winning their events.
Stewarts and Lloyds Rugby Union club have spoken to Corby Radio about their Community Day which is set for Saturday August 11th at their Occupation Road ground.

May sport round-up
Since the end of their last league campaign, Corby Town FC have busied themselves preparing for the next one, writes Stewart McNeill.
The FA have provisionally placed them in the Southern League Eastern Division for 2018/19 and before that campaign begins on August 18 a number of pre-season games have already been announced.
Graham Drury ( ex-Corby Town manager ) is set to bring his Stamford side to Steel Park on August 11. Before then Sheffield Wednesday, Oxford United and Yeovil Town from the Football League are all set to send teams to play the Steelmen.
Away games at Wellingborough and Desborough have been arranged while on the playing front Phil Trainer and Steven Leslie have moved on, and midfielder Jordan Francis along with forward Elliot Sandy have moved in. A number of other Corby players including local player Connor Kennedy have committed to the next campaign.
A setback at Stewarts and Lloyds FC as they have been denied a place in the United Counties League for next season following the FA's reorganisation. Their mens first team have struggled over the last two seasons - it's not known at time of writing where they will play instead.
The summer athletics season is underway and that meant a host of medals for Corby athletes of all ages at the county championships - including senior Golds for Niamh Bailey ( javelin ) Aidan Bailey ( javelin ) and Jordan Spence ( 100m ).
For clubs in the Corby area ( S & L, Great Oakley, Weldon, Gretton ) the Northants Cricket leagues season is underway and golfer Ryan Evans is busy on the European Tour with appearances already at events including the BMW PGA at Wentworth.
And Corby Town Table Tennis Club marked their 70th anniversary with a celebration event - the club started life as Stewarts & Lloyds back in 1948.
