Corby Town made it four wins from their last four games as Alvechurch were beaten 3-1 at Steel Park on Wednesday ( Oct 11 ).

Sam Mulready finished chances twice in the first half before on-loan striker Leon Lobjoit finished on 75 minutes to make it three-nil. Alvechurch scored with five minutes left but the Steelmen collected the points, moving them up to 11th in the Evo-Stik South.

On Tuesday UCL Division One bottom team S & L Corby lost 4-2 at Burton Park Wanderers.

Corby Town made it three straight wins to progress in the FA Trophy on Sunday ( Oct 8 ).

Jordan Crawford gave the Steelmen the lead in the second half before the Staffs side produced a leveller minutes later, but it was Phil Trainer who scored what turned out to be the winner for Corby Town in stoppage time. Next for the Steelmen is a trip to Romulus in the FA Trophy on Sunday ( Oct 8 ).

On Tuesday evening S & L FC lost 4-0 at home to Blackstones in UCL Division One. A league derby in ladies football on Wednesday finished 0-0 between S & L and Corby Town.

Corby professional boxer Simon Barclay fought for the IBF European Cruiserwight title in Edinburgh on Friday ( Oct 7 ).

In a fight featured live on BoxNation TV, Simon went the distance with the experienced Scotsman Stephen Simmonds, who went on to claim victory by a unaninmous points decision from the judges.

Simon took on the fight at short notice following an injury to another boxer and Barclay's management say there are positives the Corby man can take from only his second professional loss.

Corby Town won for just the third time in the league this season today ( Sep 30 ) just a day after sacking manager David Bell.

Academy chief Steven Kinniburgh took charge of the team who beat Stocksbridge Park Steels 2-1 at Steel Park.

Northampton Town's Leon Lobjoit scored the first goal of his loan spell in the first half, before Phil Trainer made it 2-0 in the closing minutes. Stocksbridge scored in stoppage time but Corby held on for the win, which leaves them 18th in the Evo-Stik South.

It was another league defeat for S & L rugby union side as Market Bosworth won 38-19.
